I am planning to drive from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Toronto, Ontario around New Years. I have made the trip before and usually go via New Brunswick and Quebec, routing north of Maine. I know that there is an alternate route through the U.S. to Montreal, and was wondering if anyone has any information on this route. I am particularly concerned about the weather. I have had some pretty nasty snows going through northern New Brunswick and eastern Quebec, and would like to know what it's like on the alternate route. Also, I'd like suggestions on possible alternate routes, the road conditions, gas prices, and anything else you think might be useful. Thanks. You can mail responses to me, and I'll post a summary.
