[comp.sys.amiga.games] General Ultima Q: "Life and death" 8=)

SL195@cc.usu.edu (A banana is not a toy) (08/24/90)

Hi. I've got a friend who's looking at getting an Amiga, but wants
to know what Ultimas have been released for it. This is a
"LIFE AND DEATH question," for if it's not out for the Amiga,
he'll pobably not get one. (Yes, he's getting it for a "game machine."
He's got access to computing power out the yang at work, but you can't
play Ultima on a supercomputer! (You'd have to know him to understand
that all of this isn't as wierd as it sounds.))

I have only seen Ultima III for the amiga (Came out the same time as
Bard's Tale I) a loooooong time ago (like when the Amiga first came out)
and Ultima IV (which just came out recently).

As far as I know (at least from looking at Ultima III), the graphics and
gameplay are just ported over from the IBM/C64 versions!

Ultima III is pretty expensive ($28-35 mailorder), so you may want to find
a copy to buy from someone who has had it for a long time (I sold mine
that way). Ultima IV is even more expensive ($37+ mailorder).

I wish that the Amiga would get 'up do date' on the Ultima World...seems like
if Richard Garriot (Lord British) would really want to make a great game
that he would jump off those ancient (no offense to anyone) Apple machines
which he makes them with, and get to a high-speed, graphic/sound multitasking
machine like the amiga!
			Hope this helps a little!
