[comp.sys.amiga.games] Pools of Radiance.

Yipee! Hooray! At last!

I was wondering why I haven't seen any articles about it yet?

But more importantly :
How does it compare to the IBM version? Champions of Krynn?
Does anyone who has it think it is worth buying?
ie. has something in the packaging to make it interesting and of
some value to purchase.
Please I know there are many interested parties here at least so
any comments will be welcome.

Lord Elminster bows gracefully as he erupts in a ball of flame!
He is gone.

I was not impressed with it. Compared to "Champions of Krynn," "Pool of
Radiance" is pretty poor. An inconsistant user interface (Where one must
use the mouse only to do some things and use only the keyboard to do
others), Slow response (Takes a second for the program to react to your input),
and generally mediocre (Sp?) graphics makes this game a real disappointment
for me. I loved "Champions of Krynn" and in comparison "Pool of Radiance"
is a poor subsitute.
As a side note, the only good thing I found was the music. Not Boston
Pops quality, but better than most games I've played.

How does it compare to IBM. Come now! I think they did a great job with
this one. They used a different group to do the coding (I forgot the name,
but its one of the groups that produce real polished stuff) in the Amiga
version. Although I can't (yet) speak for the storyline/plot, the
interface and programming is IMHO, better than Champs of Krynn. Better
music, better graphics, etc. Not worlds better (Cause I thought previous
AD&D releases were pretty darn good), but there is an extra degree of
polish in this production.

As for purchasing, I'd recommend it. But I'm a junkie when it comes to
AD&D-type games. There is a journal included with the package (referenced
by number while playing, just like before). I don't think they changed the
packaging from the previous versions (C-64 has been out for a loooong time).
Question: Does this mean Curse of the Azure Bonds is coming, or is it out?
