I saw an apparently new (in the USA anyway) and terribly *cute* game today down at Creative Computers in Lawndale, CA. (this is not to be construed as an endorsement for that store.. I just happen to live near it and they get a ton of new product in and no I've never used their mail order services.. when I buy stuff I want it NOW :-) It was a "Monty Python's Flying Circus" game from the UK, I believe Virgin was the publisher, so it was an import and I have NO idea if it is/will be/ever was published in the USA as well. The game itself is one of the typical 2-D "fly around in a maze-like room world shooting at nasty things and picking up treasures before you run out of lives" type affair but what makes it cute and interesting is the Terry Gilliam-like artwork in many of the scenes... just imagine the typical Monty Python tv series opening animation where the little guys get squahsed by big feet, and pushed thru all kinds of Rube Goldberg-ish machinery and you get the picture It ran just fine on a 1-Meg 2-drive A500 in the store. I don't know if the disk itself is protected but the game is "cheese lookup" protected... you search through the very funy but very tiny game manual to find a picture of a piece of cheese which matches the name and picture of a piece of cheese you see when you boot up the game and if you correctly identify the name of the cheese on the screen you are let into the game itself. A properly British voice and the usual Python theme music come up when the disk is booted. I don't know if something wonderful happens if one completely finishes the maze nor how many levels there are. One of the salesman who is good at this kind of thing played it on the same level for about 15 minutes till he ran out of lives. The price was around $25 and I suppose if you're a real Python fan you'll like it. Lots of cute burping and farting sound effects and strange beasties to fight. Harv
