[net.travel] Reasonable Lodging for Expo 86

While we are on this subject, has anyone found a source for comprehensive
information on Expo 86? We are at the very least amused by all the $20
a night rooms being sold for $100+ per night during Expo 86. We have a
Holiday Inn reservation for a room for three nights for my wife and myself
at Canadian $135 per night. That's not top of the line, just an average
room! Unfortunately we remember the same type of activity during the
Seattle World's Fair in 1962, so we remain amused rather than outraged.

We have talked to Expo 86 representatives at trade shows and in Vancouver
itself. We have yet to find anyone who will say more than "Call this
number and ask them". We call the said number and find them sending us
a color glossy brochure -- the same brochure we can get from Seattle First
National Bank, and that prompted us to seek more information. We're very
interested in attending Expo 86, to the extent of having purchased life
time passes. But without good information before going, we may just
chuck the passes in the round file. Anyone from Expo 86 listening? We
are genuinely interested in the Expo, not in grousing about presence or
lack of organization. Question range from rumors about an International
Tattoo during the last week in June to the nature of exhibits from various
countries.
