F-19 Stealth Fighter DF0: Bombing Mission ? Yeah, I finally, after years of forsworn Amiga game purchases due to crap copy protection (or just lousy, uninteresting games), bought a new game: F-19. The game play itself is nice and the docs are quite well done though I noticed a buncha "see page 00" where they neglected to insert the actual page nums :-) HOWEVER: I thought the days of floppy drives getting b*tt-f*cked by imported games were long over. Not so with F-19. :-( Almost 5-1/2 years of whisper-quiet floppy operation on my system, then along comes F-19 causing the drives to zzzzZAP-zzzzZAP-brrrrrRAP-clackety-clack. Last time I heard such noises was when Cap'n Crunch (John Draper) asked me what was wrong with his Amiga floppy drives ... seems he would "boot" (the original) DPaint 40-50 times a day, and it, too, would terrorize the floppy drives with some similar atrocities, sparking a L-O-N-G anti-EA dialogue on both Usenet and on The WELL. John's drives actually WERE destroyed to the point where they wouldn't even boot a "stock" Workbench, and the "blame" was attributed to EA, though I don't recall how the matter was resolved. The copy protection by Micro-Prose (on F-19) is reprehensible and I advise you to keep this in mind (either in terms of an F-19 purchase OR in terms of floppy drive adjustments or repair).
