[comp.sys.amiga.games] Looking for Football Game Info

bobgens@aix.aix.kingston.ibm.com (Bob Gensler) (11/29/90)

Greetings, Amigaites:

I'd like to get some information on a couple of football games for the A500
(I've only had this box for about a year, so I've missed most of the discussion
in this newsgroup).

I'm looking for a footbal game played from the coach's point of view.
Basically, I'd like a game where you call formations, plays, and audibles
much like a coach or a quarterback, *but* I'd like the game to actually run
the play without the player's intervention. Something like "Earl Weaver
Baseball"'s Manage-Only mode...... I'm looking to buy this type of game for
someone with limited mobility (this person was a football coach before he lost
his mobility).

I currently have "4th and Inches", but this isn't what I'm looking for. I
also have "TV Sports Football", but the game still requires you to control
movement of the players, which is too much for the person I'm planning on
giving this game to.

I've heard of three other football games for the Amiga. Since my local
software stores don't consider the Amiga a machine worthy of their shelf
space, I would like some "informed opinions" before I waste my time and money
ordering yet another football game that I can't use.

I'd like to know about the game's input (whether it uses mouse, joystick, or
keyboard), graphics (whether or not the graphics are decent or cause you to
loose interest), complexity (limited playbook or extensive), and overall
playability. If you can, please comment on these games:

	Gridiron
	Head Coach (by Microsearch)
Pro Football Simulation (by Microsearch ?)

If you have any comments on these games, please respond via e-mail to

Thanks for your time.

Pro League Football and HeadCoach are the same thing..
They are both a VERY detailed game of GridIron..
There are something like 100 offesnsive different plays callable in
the simplest mode.. Well actually there are about 18, but one step up
from that there is about 100..
As far as the actual play etc i dont know that much but i think that
the computer controlls all the plays and their outcome is based upon
a detailed player description.. (stats)
