[comp.sys.amiga.games] Star Control & Awesome

ernie@aquarium.buffalo.ny.us (Ernest J. Gainey III) (12/08/90)

Hi all,
I just purchased StarControl & Awesome, and they both seem like fairly
nicely done games... Supposidly StarControl is installable on a HardDrive..
but I've been having problems.. :( it seems, after playing for a bit...
and using the Ur-quan Dreadnought ship, it will crash... (only when
used from the harddrive... when done from floppy, it runs fine..)
(I've even gone as far as not let any of my Start-Sequence run, and trying
that.. all that gives me is a LITTLE more time) :(

has anyone else had this problem??

Also, Awesome, its graphics an sound are nice... but... has anyone had
any problems loading it? the first disk boots from df0: then it says
if you have two drives, but disk 1 and 2 in them... i do so... and well..
it seems that it never after this point read from df0:... the disk it wants
 has to be in df1:...

 anyone else have this problem?

heres what I got in hardware..

A590 drive... 3 megs of ram total...
Plain old Agnus from back in '87 :(
 and one external floppy, Master-3A1..
(this is the drive Awesome works on... but not the
   internal) :(

This is a problem with Psygnosis dipshit copy protection. It is so strict
that the local dealer had a 70% failure with their Awesome games.

I had to make 6 trips back to the dealer to get on that would work on my
machine. I still can only load them in my internal drive.

Can you say "GRONK!!! GRONK!!! GRONK!!!" ? :(
