I just bought the game Anarchy, a PsyClapse product(something under Psygnosis), and I want to tell the world about it. (If you consider buy- ing it and such). It's a defender "upgrade" like Datastorm(Soeren Groenbaek), and it seems to me, that they want you to know this. There is (as far as I know) only one tune in the thing, but it is good. It is one of the best examples of sampled disstorted guitar music, I have heard on the Amiga. It sounds like they have tried to make it sound live, or rather not-mecanic, and as so has managed quite well. The graphics are both good and bad - after all, it is Defender, and Defender was never meant for BattleSquadron graphics, so maybe one should not complain if they are not. Datastorm, IMHO, has good graphics, because they are what the game requires; a bitmapped panoramabackground would have changed the game, because it would be harder to identify the aliens(?). Actually, in Anarchy there is a bitmapped background, but it is kept neutral, so I dont find it disturbing. Above all, the graphics, are quick and smooth, the Mark of most Psy-games. Well, so how does the game play ? I haven't played it much, but until now I like it. I can't help comparing it to DataStorm(Which I like), but I seem to get to control the vehicle better, as I practice, and that looks promising. But, I'm afraid that All-too-soon one has seen all the graphics and meanies there is, and it will get repetitive. Anyway, I would like to hear the opinions of other Anarchists, as I haven't seen anything in magazines about it.
