-- I just recently traded Empire for a copy of Strike Aces (a bombing competition simulator) and have a question for those who have 'finished' all the missions. How do you kill the enemy aircraft when they appear. The only way I've ever succeeded in getting good 'tone' with a sidewinder is when the enemy appears in front of me and at considerable range. Or if the enemy appears behind me at VERY considerable range. Once the intercept plane gets behind my aircraft, it's nearly impossible to shake him and even when I do manage to get behind him, he suspends the laws of physics until he's right back behind me. Looking at the attack plane when being chased, it's easy to see that his plane (no matter what it is) is not bound by the same physical laws as my plane. If the attacker is behind me and I go ballistic while performing vertical barrel rolls, he follows but simply skips through space (180 degrees) to prevent from ever being in front of me. The rest of the game is very well done but this is quite annoying because it makes things very difficult. A friend of mine who happens to be a Navy Pilot played the game and went completely non-linear when he was repeatedly shot down by 'inferior' aircraft. Also, the intercept aircraft are able to maintain maximum speed (1,000+ knots) at _any_ altitude which is not possible for several of the enemy planes (mirage 2000, f5e, etc.). As a matter of fact, the mirage 2000 was maintaining 1,000+ knots of airspeed at 250 _feet_ off the ground while doing a minimum radius turn (and he wasn't even banking!). Any and all help will be greatly appreciated, --Paul -- Paul Hinker hinker@acl.lanl.gov /// If it works, it's not state-of-the-art MS B287 505-665-4531 /// --Hansen's Law Los Alamos National Labs ACL \\\/// All our stuff is broke Los Alamos, NM 87545 \XX/ --Forslund's Corollary
