So while the consensus seems to be that it is the mouse granulatiry of the
NTSCized version that makes some of the destinations hard/impossible to get
to, is there any playaround? Or do you just lose when the first un-mouseable
destination comes up?

What about all of the apparently-secondary stuff that's going on, are you
supposed to do something about it all? For example:

  - Scotty says you should take better care of the ship. Is that warning
telling you something? Similarly, McCoy tells you to watch your health.
Can you *do* anything about your health? I assume that these are just
'distractions': things to drag you off of the bridge, yes?
  - What can you do about the crew's morale? It suggests that you should
do something [and in one "you can do better"], but can you actually DO
     anything?
  - Under what circumstances does the science position help? [mostly
it's never really 'helped' by identifying anything [does anything really
NEED identifying?] and I don't think I've ever seen there be any
     'suggestion'.
  - What about all of the miscellaneous messages: one turbolift or another
being repaired, uhura singing, someone [chekov and sulu??] playing
     space balls, etc.

thanks..

Scotty says that when you are hurting the ship. Like going to Warp speed
while still too near a planet. I don't know about the health thing.

You can improve morale by bluffing the klingons. When klingons show up, go
to communications and try bluffing (something about corbomite??).
