I've been playing MM2 on and off for a few weeks, but my progress lately has been a little sluggish. I just need a few hints/suggestions to get started up again. My characters are mostly ~10th level, and I have 4 hirelings available (2 are ~10th, other 2 ~6th). What dungeons should I be exploring fairly early in the game? How do I get to parts of various towns that are walled off or barricaded? Some areas don't seem to have secret doors to get to them. -- Gibberish .sig for sale or lease. is spoken Contact don@vax1.acs.udel.edu for more information. here. DISCLAIMER: It's all YOUR fault.

- **** * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * **** ** Minor spoilers for Might & Magic II below. Watch it. ** **** * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * **** Okay, I've had enough! I like M&MII a lot, but there's a couple of things that're driving me nuts! I have two clerics in my party. They both have the 3rd level spell "cold ray" in their books. But every time I try to have one of them cast it, I get ** spell failed **. What gives? Does anyone else have this problem? Anyone know how to fix it? Second, I've had my party make the rounds of the cities, and I've come back to Middlegate. Once I learned (by accident) that some of the wall sections are fake, I decided to head to the caverns under M'gate to see if the sections I thought were solid were actually hollow. Of course, they were, and I've since cleaned out the entire first level except for the 2x2 square in the bottom center. Here, I have some problems. First of all, there are encounters in *each* square. That would be no problem, except for a few things: (1) In each battle, there are almost invariably several nasty monsters that either can kill you with a single blow (ninjas), or can attack the entire party at once (crazed dwarves) doing usually 30+ points of damage per monster per character, and they *never* miss! (2) You can't rest in the 2x2 area (it's "too dangerous") (3) *None* of your magic spells or items will work, so you must win by hand to hand combat! (Makes your sorcerers damn near useless, and clerics are not much better off.) Anyone have any hints as to how to get through this area? Does it, as I suspect, contain stairs down to another level? Any help is appreciated.
