My girlfriend and I are planning a trip around the world, and hope to make Australia one of our major stops (2-6 months). As neither of us is swimming in cash, we hope to take advantage of the Australian Working Holiday Visa. The Australian Consulate-General here in Vancouver has told me that these visas are very hard to get, as only a very few are given out. Does anyone know anything about these visas, or perhaps alternate ways to supplement travel funds in Australia? (or elsewhere for that matter). Any hints as to how to fill in the the application, what to send in etc. would be most appreciated. I would also be interested to hear about peoples "round-the-world" travel experiences; do's and don'ts, visa problems, employment opportunities etc. thanks in advance, -- Alastair Foreman New Media Technologies Ltd. ..decvax!microsoft!ubc-vision!winston!foreman ..ihnp4!alberta!ubc-vision!winston!foreman #108 4664 Lougheed Highway Burnaby, B.C., Canada, V5C 5T5 (604) 291-7111

It is usually pretty easy to get an immigration visa to Australia. (well, not exactly, you have to be white and young.) I was clued into this by someone at an Aussie consulate when I went to get a work visa, so instead, I took the immigration one.
