[comp.sys.amiga.games] CAPTIVE

visconti@banana.cis.ohio-state.edu (mark a visconti) (11/19/90)

I am stuck on the first level of Captive. Here's what I did.
I went to the planet with the green flashing dot and landed. Once on the
planet, I went through the portal. I cleared out the level (from what I
can tell) and now I am stuck.

What do the big energy things do ? Where is the holamap ?
What does the hint in the rule book "dancing on the ceiling" mean ?
(I tried anti-grav, but to no avail)...

Suggestions ? Other than the fact that I am stumped, this is
a great game. The manual seems rather lacking in information, but I guess
that is half the fun.

Hints ? Email or Posts will be fine

	Thanks,
	Mark Visconti

I have been informed that the commercial release of Captive does not suffer
from the problems I encountered with the demo copy, so don't let my post stop
you from buying it.
Has anyone seen the Amiga release of Star Control yet?

Hi,
I just bought the game Captive but I am having problems with saving my
games on the A1000. I put an new disk into the drive, select the disk icon
and then I format the disk. After it formats the disk, the message "Disk
Status Ok" shows up. I then Save Game 0, it access the save disk but it
doesn't save the game and the message "Disk Not Found" shows up. I tried
this with both df0: and df1: to no avail.

I went back to the store where I bought the game (HT Electronics, in
Sunnyvale) but the saving worked on both their A500 and A1000. Because
of this the salesman wasn't very helpful and his response boiled down to
"You have to know what you are doing". I tried saving the game on my
A1000, duplicating all the steps that the salesman went through (see above
paragraph), but is still doesn't save. I tried fiddling with my amiga
such as disconnecting my memory expansion and that didn't have any effect.

I want to find if anyone has encountered the same problem when saving
their games. Any help or information is appreciated.

I have a simple yet very puzzling question Re: CAPTIVE. I start out
travelling to the blinking plannet, and upon landing, I find the
note indicating the correct order of buttons to press for opening the
"porthole"/door. Anyway, once I get in, I find a thing of dynamite
and it says to use the explosive to destroy generators. Okay, neat,
now I know what it is used for, so off I go, trying to find one of
these "generators". Well, I spent nearly 5 hours trying to get out
of that little 1x3 square room, can't go out the door I apparently
came in, tried reversing the sequence of buttons, and that didn't
work, finally saw the little electric outlet, touched it and started
firing at the walls, and noticed one wall "sounded" different. So I
tried desperately to throw this electricity at the wall for about 30
minutes then realized that that was not going to work. Anyway, in
short, HOW DO I GET OUT OF THIS PLACE!!!!!
			Thanks in advance,
