[comp.sys.amiga.games] SpeedBall

dgick@silver.ucs.indiana.edu (damian gick) (11/13/90)

(I just started to read comp.sys.amiga.games -- if this has been discussed
before, sorry ... no flames please)

I was at a friend's house this weekend, and got my first real look at
the Amiga in action. One game that really caught my eye was Speedball.
I didn't play too many others (Except Space Ace [Holy cow!] ). My
question is: Is Speedball an exceptional game on the Amiga?

I thought the graphics/color on that game to be unlike _anything_ I've
seen (Arcade/Genesis/NES [yuk]).. I'm a big fan of futuristic sports
games (Cyberball) and thought the game play was very good also; but
the animation and graphics were unbelievable!

Speedball is one of those kinda games. Its hard to explain
I'll just ramble for a while and you may get my drift.
Speedball is a simplistic kinda game. For the amiga anyway.
its the tipical Computer team against team game. To look at, its nice.
good graphics, Ok sound (could have been better). And NO I would say
speedball is, by superfishel looks, not a impressive looking game
compaired to some. BUT speedball is a specail game. Its just a
FUN and adictive game, one you come back to. Ie when you see many many
games all the time and play them all, they get boring quick. Speedball
is one you keep in the back of your disk box for easy retreval.
I have friends that play it EVERY night and have competitions.

There are some games ie like Best, that make your eyes pop out.
There just so colourful and have great sound that playing them is only
a unexpected feture not planned by the authers.

A GOOD NOTE: SPEEDBALL II is soon to be released (my friends keep
going on about it, keeping a keem eye out for it. But like paradroid 90
it is FAR behind scedual.)

I WANT to play this game! Two problems, though:

I own an A3000: the (admittedly, hacked) copy I got wouldn't run.
     Uh...

I guess there was only one problem. Well, anybody know if either
version will run on the 3000? Thanx!

Also, somebody mentioned Cyberball: is THIS awesome game out for the
Amiga yet? Please say yes! Thanx again...

Has anyone ever solved speedball I all the way thru the 40 week session?
