All I could get was "fuckface mumbles a meaningless spell"

RE: DM1 - OH KATH SAR (MONSTER CONFUSION) SPELL.....I can't see you
having any trouble with THAT - except, are you including the POWER
symbol in the spell? Sounds like you're leaving it out! If you were
an EXPERT Priest, your spell would be PAL OH KATH SAR. A MASTER Priest
would use MON OH KATH SAR. I've never had any trouble with this spell.

John Upham asked about the mythical "Monster Confusion" spell in
Dungeon Master..

There is no such spell. What happened is Michael Stetter made a typo on
one of the very first lists of DM spells, and everyone who copied his list
from that time on, also copied the typo without ever trying the spells to
see if they worked.

The "OH KATH SAR-- Monster Confusion" "spell" is *very* close to the
real "OH EW SAR-- Invisibility" spell, and when you're invisible, the
monsters *do* appear to be "confused"... but there aren't two separate
such spells...

There *IS* a "Confusion" function to one of the magical staves, but not
a regular spell..

What's ironic is how many "commercial" hintdisks and books that included
"Confusion" as one of the spells on their lists...
                                                       :)
