Maybe this isn't in the write place, but at least this has a high reading so maybe someone will answer quickly: What is the .zap suffix, I got an approx 500000k file off of abcfd20.larc.nasa.gov called c64music.zap (it was in incoming/amiga) and I can't un archive it, any help would be appreciated. Thanx Rainer P.S. Wouldn't it be nice if someone wrote an archiver that became established is the ONE and ONLY archiver to use so I don't need to have one disk dedicated to holding twenty archivers. Well C U.

Thanx Gee, a 500 megabyte file? The ftp disk on ab20 (not abcfd20) isn't even that big! Try /incoming/amiga/ARCHIVERS/zap141.lzh (untested), or /usenet/comp.binaries.amiga/volume90/util/zap-2.04.Z ... > Wouldn't it be nice if someone wrote an archiver that became > established is the ONE and ONLY archiver to use so I don't need to > have one disk dedicated to holding twenty archivers. HA! I'm sorry I couldn't find the original text, so I'll have to do this from memory... ------- The master notices a novice becoming frustrated working with his terminal. The master says, ``What is troubling you?'' ``Master, this editor is horrible. Someday I'll write my own editor, and it will do everything it should!'' Upon hearing this, the master strikes the novice. ``Why did you hit me, master?'' ``Because I don't want to have to learn another editor!'' The novice was enlightened. ------- ...tad

A few days ago I FTP'd some demos with the extension .ZAP from ab20 and uhccux.uhcc.hawaii.edu. (The demos are MentalHangover.ZAP and C64Music.ZAP.) I also got a file, zap141.lzh, from ab20. Un-lharc'ing the zap141.lzh file produces a 5K .DOC file, as well as a 5K executable. The executable seems to work, telling me "about to write to df0:, press return." I press return and wait, while the screen flashes in blue. After a minute or so, the computer either completely crashes or guru's. The command I use is zap w MentalHangover.ZAP when both zap and MentalHangover are in ram:. (I have a single disk drive only.) It looks as if it should work, but zap crashes no matter what I pull. Could anybody please tell me what I'm doing wrong, because I'm just about at the end of my rope. (I have an A500 with 512K chip, 512K fast, and only the internal drive.) wow, someone actually uses our site. I am not sure where your problems
stem from, but there is a later version of zap (zap_2.04.lzh) which can
be found in amiga/Amiga/Util/Disk on uhccux. I'm not familiar with zap
or the demos in question, but it may help.
