"The Easter egg hunt opens again"

A long awaited sequel to Turrican is finally released. As the game
opens there is a short graphical introduction to the game. Basically
you must destroy the alien base.

Game is basically a arcade type shoot'em'up with some big middle and
end of level monsters. The base itself is made of, for the most part,
platforms you can jump to and from. The levels are big and maze like
and there are several goodies, which are basically the key for whole
game, to be found. For the most part you control the man by jumping
and shooting around, but there is also underwater diving and spaceship
flying to come.

Aiding you in your task there are several weapons: lasers, multiples,
rounds, razor and you can even transform yourself in to a rolling star
mining the level, or there is a limited special ability shooting all
kinds of bullets simultaneusly for few seconds. In some levels you
control a small defender like spaceship flying in a large complex with
varying speed and directions. There are several kinds of enemies
varying from small bees to a screensize spaceships and carriers. There
are also some neat ideas like wind and a dragon which waves it's wings
causing a wind throwing you to the backwall.

The game has very good graphics. The levels are made of small building
blocks which really look awesome. There are also some great animations
like when a high speed elevator stops our hero shakes his head seeing
stars. The space ship flying sequence is mixed up from r-type,
scramble, and vanguard. This sequence even includes refueling in the
air. Music is very atmospheric varying from heartbeats in the "alies"
scene to fast rock in the flying sequence. The title music is totally
awesome utilizing 8 channels and lasting several minutes. Programming
is exellent, using several scrolling playfields, huge monsters and
lotsa bullets simultaneusly running in every frame most of the time.
Game uses fast ram buffered loads so if you have lots of ram it woun't
load anything twice. It also uses a second joystic button, if present,
for special weapons. Turrican II is not multitasking nor
HD-installable. I'm not able to try it on faster processors.

The only drawback for this game is the easiness of completing it,
however it's bit harder than the first one (I finished Turrican on my
3rd game with 24 men to spare and II on my 4th game with 21 men:-). I
recommend this game to everyone who likes arcade type games or just
wants to show what Amiga can do if programmed wisely, Don't miss it!

DISCLAIMER: These are my opinions and I have nothing to do with the
makers of this game nor the distributors.

If anyone finds out whether or not this runs on a 3000, let me know.
I do not agree 100% with your assessment of wise programming, but to each
his own. If a program cannot multitask or at least HD install,
I think it is lacking somewhat in this day and age. If it does not run
on an A3000, then it is not really a program at all.
