[comp.sys.amiga.games] DAS BOOT - A _MUST_ BUY!

manes@vger.nsu.edu ((Mark D. Manes), Norfolk State University) (03/27/91)

Folks,

I just got DAS BOOT. In a word - WUNDERBAR!

I bought Harpoon (and this program is from the same folks) and was only
moderately impressed. However I was _blown_ away by DAS BOOT! Not only
has this program been Amigatized, it plays nicely on a A3000 under 2.0.
Further it is hard disk installable!

The game graphics is fast, if you have a 68000 based machine their options
to reduce the detail, etc.

I have not read any of the docs, but I steamed around a port of some
sort and finally I ended up sinking. Of course, I did everything I could
in playing with it!

Folks, if you love Submarine games, and you don't mind being the _eviL_
Germans (grin), this game is for you!

It _even_ comes with the a real honest to goodnes copy of the Book, called
'The Boat'!

A must buy!

For give me, I know this isn't Rec.arts.movies but I can't resist:

For those of you who have never seen the movie _Das_Boot_, check it out.

Probably the best submarine flick I've ever seen. Very dark, gritty and
real. Makes you glad that you weren't there in WWII.
The original movie was in german with subtitles. It was also released in an
english dubbed version (I think they even renamed it _The_Boat_). If you
can stand reading subtitles I would recommend the original german version.
I normally don't like subtitles but in this movie the original german is
much better.

You've convinced me.
