OK, Michael, I went back in there and up to the RAT's Lair. I used 
the THIEVES' EYE spell and saw the spot you mentioned. At first, I 
thought this spot may be accessable from the level above, but when 
you line up the maps, it just doesn't figure. My guess would be that 
this is an area that really can't be accessed, but I certainly could 
be wrong. It is obviously not vital to finishing the game, so I wouldn't 
lose any sleep over it! It's really fun to have the FIRESTAFF and 
be able to run all over the Dungeon with this weapon! All the NON-
 
MATERIAL BEINGS such as AIR and WATER ELEMENTALS are easily dispatched 
with the FUSE option, and you can fireball and poison cloud most other 
things easily also! (There's a trick to getting the FIRESTAFF and 
GEM together without the area on the DARK LORD Level being sealed 
off, trapping you down there until you defeat CHAOS)
