I posted another message a few minutes ago but things died here and I am not sure it was posted so here it is again: On the 5th level (I think its the 5th level, the one with the riddle room) there is a large room with a floor plate the opens a passage a couple of squares away but that passage closes once I step off the plate. In that same room the occasional beholder and skeleton crew pops up and get killed. How can I get past this? (into this secret passage, the monster are no problem). Craig

OK, the trick here is that the plate can only be activated by the
presence of an object of significant weight, such as YOU, or a band
of skeletons. To gain entrance, you must lure a band of skeletons
(beholders won't work, since they don't touch the floor) onto the
plate, then activate a 'freeze life' spell (found in the green and
blue magic boxes). You can then enter the chamber, and collect the
paltry items it contains (I think there was a drumstick, an apple,
and a potion). All in all, this puzzle is just a red herring.

I didn't receive any replies to my earlier request, so here goes again: 1) How do you get past the "endless" tunnel on level 8? 2) What do you do on level 9? There is only one room that I can find, along with an inscription "When is rock not rock". Hobie Orris

I am unable to complete the Knight level or the level above it. First, the Knight Level. In the large room that surrounds a small room, I can not open that door. Also, I can not open the door to the room at the top right corner. Now for the Clockwise Level question. I have completed two of the three passages. If you are facing north at the beginning of the three passeges, then I have completed the west and north passeges. While I was in the west passage, a thief took the key from out of my backpack. I fried him with a fireball, but the key and two poison darts are nowhere to be found. Thanks for any hints. Brian Carroll wolf@shumv1.ncsu.edu

I have managed to get the firestaff and I am now trapped in the room above the room where the gem was fused into the mountain. I am engaged with the sorcerer and have been going toe-to-toe with him for days. I have been living off of stamina potions and have forgotten what real food tastes like (one of those worm segments would go down great with soya sauce). My way out has been walled off, I assume, because the game want's me to kill the Sorcerer. Question: How do I get out of this?? I have blasted the Sorcerer literally hundreds of times, with my full litany of spells cast by all 4 of my characters at MAX level. I think the solution is in the firestaff but all I can get it to do is the spells it comes with. (I'm note sure what that Fluxcage does). A small tip would be appreciated. Somewhere (the 12th level?) in Dungeon Master, you have to fight these water elementals, or puddles, or whatever they are. How do you kill them? The only thing I can seem to do is brandish the Staff of Claws and make them back off. Is there any way to kill these guys? I remember reading a while back that to finish the game, you use the Fire Staff to build a "flux cage." I was under the impression that the Staff had a function called "flux." How do you get the staff to do this? Or what else do I need to do the flux bit? Lastly, someone mentioned a list of spells. Does anyone have that laying around? I actually have most of the spells I need, but I'd like to see all the ones that people have found. -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- | seven@ucscb.ucsc.edu | "Here's a stinking sig for you!" | | Saint Echo | "When the going gets wierd, the wierd turn pro." | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

They're non-material beings, use the spell for these, or use a Vorpal Blade. No real problem, though. If you have a drain, you can make them splash down that way - real fun! I was lucky enough to pick a route where I only met a single of these, so I just went past them. Horn of Fear is said to be effective for scaring them off. > I remember reading a while back that to finish the game, you use the Fire > Staff to build a "flux cage." Hi guys, I finally bought this game when I saw it on sale at one of my local store. In the past, I have seen a lot of postings on clues and tricks to the game. Unfortunately, I did not save any of the postings. Can someone please email me all the clues and tricks to the game? Things such as who are the best four champions to use among others in the hall of champions, what are all the possible spells I can use, and how to advance the characters' level easily. Thanks for all your help! Stephen choy_ltd@uhura.cc.rochester.edu

I love it, I still haven't solved it and right now it is my third time around ( cause I keep losing my character disks or I get sidetracked.) The best part about this game is the discovery of what's down there. So give a try by yourself first and see what happens. l8r... dower@ritcsh.rit.edu
