	I am going to purchase a modem,and would like to be able to
	access the various m.u.d.s around the world.

	1.what is the best VALUE modem for the amiga
	2.can i access m.u.d.s from my amiga?
	3.is this access esxppensive???


		...do i need a 'c' compiler?



	..any help would be much appreciated.

	If you want a low priced MODEM that works well for text-based operations, I'd suggest the Supra2400 (Hayes Compatible) modem.  2400 Baud, is, in my opinion the best for text.

	Yes, but probably not directly (Unless you get networking software/hardware and find a place that will let you hook your amiga to the Internet)  You can use the modem to call up various terminal servers (Most run by Universities) or perhaps government or school computers that are on the internet, then you just use telnet to connect to the MUD(s)

	Probably not, unless you end up having to dial long distance, or you decided to try and rent out an Internet hookup for your amiga (Which would probably be VERY expensive)...Just using a modem to call local costs nothing unless you are billed by message units (In short, its the same as making a voice call no matter where you call)

	Almost definatly not, at least not for your amiga.  The only situation you would need one for is to compile and run your own MUD, and this would almost definatly be on a Unix system, which would have a compiler on it anyways...
