[comp.sys.amiga.games] LordOfTheRings

f90cm@rigel.efd.lth.se (04/14/91)

Has anyone heard of or seen something about any games based upon JRR Tolkien's
creations? I've heard about a role-playing-game coming out for the PC. Also
wondering: What became of Riders of Rohan. Is it ever going to be published?
 'would be pleased to know...
   Thanks!

Has anyone heard anything about any LOTR games coming out for the amiga?
I've seen pics of a LOTR role-playing game for the PC. Will it be published for
the amiga too? Also, what happened to the Riders of Rohan Game?
Should you have anything informative - please tell...
Thanks!

Avoid "War in Middle Earth". It has really pretty graphics, but is
virtually unplayable (due to the most tedious, unwieldy user interface
I have ever seen). A friend of mine bought it, and among a group of
5 Amiga users (and Tolkien fans, I should note), none of us thought the
game worth playing.

Sorry to be the bearer of ill tidings. :)

Lord of the Rings came out not too long ago. It's incredibly
detailed and would make a great game except for the fact that
a) everybody knows the plot, and b) it's only the first of a
three-part series.

Still, if you like the Tolkien universe, it's a decent collector's
item. Just remember its limitations.

Avoid War in Middle Earth.

Riders of Rohan still isn't out. I believe they're still debugging
it.

Actually, War in Middle Earth isn't too bad if you can find it for, say,
five dollars. It's a nice way to spend one afternoon, but it probably
won't take you much more than that to win it, because it's a VERY easy
game. If you happen upon it in the budget bin somewhere, you might want
to pick it up just for the heck of it, but definitely don't pay full
price for it.
