Hi, I lifted the patch for Harpoon that was posted here a few days ago, but when I uudecoded it all I found was a file called "name". What do I do with it? I heard it made some sensors or weapons on some platforms more realistic. Does "realistic" mean better (more powerful, longer range) or worse? Sorry about the "name" cock-up. Anyway, get the file to your
Amiga and add ".lzh". You should then un-lharc it and away
you go.
"More realistic" means
- Obvious errors were fixed
- Data was brought up to the status of the Harpoon 1990-91 Data
Annex (for the board game). Much data was changed in this
product, especially so for sonars. The question of whether
Harpoon is capable of being "really" realistic is philosophical
and I can't answer, but I think you'd agree you can get closer.
- I chopped a convergence zone off all sonars. So sue me, or
add them back, it's easy. ASW in Harpoon is still pretty bad,
but it was worse before.
