[comp.sys.amiga.games] Operation Stealth

ovb10@cs.kun.nl (Patrick Atoon) (11/29/90)

Hi-de-hi.

I can't believe that I am the only one out here that plays Operation Stealth,
nor the fact that no one succeeded in getting further than I got. Therefore,
I suppose you all missed my last message. Lemme be short:

       H E L P ! ! I'm stuck.

Yes, stuck. I'm down in the seabase, escaped from pirahnas, escaped from the
rats, fought with the soldier, swapped the blank stamp, get me a life-boat
and several other things, but I can't get past this room with the electric
bars in it.
So if anyone out there got further than me, please help me...
There is nothing as frustrating as not being able to advance in a game for
five weeks.

Thanks in advance,
            Patrick

Well, I guess I was wrong.... Since more people asked me to forward a message
regarding the solution to them, I will put it in this message, so everyone can
read it.

Well, it seems that you have to use the stamp with the mission envelope and
give it to the guard.

Thanx, Tim MacKenzie, for giving my life (and that of many others) a meaning
again 8-)

How can I crack the safe? I have the little box. I attach it to the safe.
Then what?

*** Safecracking Spoiler Ahead, Skip now if you don't want to know ***

This puzzle caused me about two hours of hair pulling until I finally
figured out how the hell the thing worked (no thanks to the *useless*
instructions in the manual.) Once you have the thing attached, turn
it on (of course.) Now for the first digit increment through digits 0
up to 9. You'll note that four of those numbers caused one of the
diodes (the red dots, about 10 in a row across) to become lit. Now,
depending on where the diode lit up decides where that number will be in
the combination sequence. So for example say you incremented through all
the numbers and got the following results:

9 - Lit up the sixth diode
4 - Lit up the second diode
5 - Lit up the eighth diode
1 - Lit up the fifth diode

Just append the numbers together going in increasing order of the diodes
that were lit. Start with the second diode (a "4" made this one light),
then fifth diode, etc.

So now we know that the combination is 4195. Punch that code in and if its
correct the power light on the power button should flash briefly (as
opposed to the thing detonating in your face.)

Now shut off the safecracker and remove it. (I think the safe should open
by itself after that but you might have to open it, its been awhile.)
