Well, I've played the GODS demo all the way through and thought it was pretty good, but I would suggest (at great personal flame risk to myself) that the game is not as fun as Rick Dangerous or Rick Dangerous 2. I especially like Rick Dangerous 2, since there seems to be a bit more variety (than with Rick Dangerous) and you can start at any level. Level 2 includes anti-gravity sleds and Level 3 has three (maybe 4) distinct routes from entrance to exit, each varying in length and difficulty. I haven't completed Level 4 yet, so I won't comment on it. When a character dies in Rick Dangerous and Rick Dangerous 2, you see him fall off the screen, and in Rick 2, each type of character has it's own dying noise. These add to the cuteness of the game. I like the joystick controls for Rick better too. Rick is like GODS in that you can't fire while you are crouching, but with GODS I couldn't help but want to duck and fire at the same time. At least Rick let's you crawl while on your hands and knees. Here are some of the things I didn't particularly care for in GODS: - Can't move or fire while crouching (deja'vu) - The default when you crouch on an object is NOT "pick it up" - I don't like the "you need to set a collection of levers in some combination" kind of puzzle -- I know how to count in binary (thank you very much) and don't need to exercise that skill during a game. - GODS suffers from the "I can walk on air, so long as the air is near the edge of a platform" syndrome. Now, let's see if I can prevent people from flaming me: - Yes, GODS is a good game. - Yes, I will probably buy it (although Speed Ball II will come first) - No, I've never written a game. And I shouldn't go shooting off my mouth, since I don't know how really hard it is. I apologize to anyone offended by the fact that I have an opinion. - I like cartoons and cartoon violence. I apologize to anyone offended by the fact that I like the cuteness of the deaths in Rick Dangerous. - Yes, I know that I don't spell very well and my grammar sucks. MRH
