I recently downloaded the latest version (1.51) of Omega, and still experienced some specific, repeatable crashes. Most notably, if I (at the start of a new game) give donation, pray to athena, and join the Paladins, so as to be oriented severely toward the Law, then try going down into the sewers at Rampart (note, at this point I am riding a "horse") then I ALWAYS experience a SOFTWARE ERROR - requester crash! Now here's the wierd part: I just got ahold of a vintage 1983 68020/881 adaptor board that plugs into the 68000 socket, and with some pin-cutting, and pcb hacksawing I managed to stuff the thing into my A2000. After getting over my shock when mon Ami' actually booted up and ran with this thing stuck in the cpu socket, I tried running Omega. Well, now I CAN'T GET THE THING TO CRASH!!! I suspect; therefore, that there may be some instructions in the program which the stock 68000 cpu in most A2000's/A500's finds quite offensive! So if you are still having crash problems, simply get an accelerator card, or an old obsolete 020 adaptor, like me (mine was an old CSA), or maybe try a 68010 chip. Or if for some un-conceivble reason you don't want to hardware hack your machine, try to get the author of the program to remove the offending 680x0 instructions from his program. BTW, thanks to everyone who offered me suggestions on my original post of my problems, even though none worked! >:-) Good luck, all. Later... Leif Johnson leif@slacvm.slac.stanford.edu

Run NoFastMem, then load the game. (Still using a large stack though...) Problem is that it still crashes... Just not right away anymore. :-) -Bill Seymour nesbbx!billsey@agora.uucp or nesbbx!billsey@agora.rain.com ***** American People/Link Amiga Zone Hardware Specialist NES*BILL ***** Bejed, Inc.
