[comp.sys.amiga.games] Monkey Island is making a monkey out of me!

cs170703644@vger.nsu.edu (05/20/91)

I hate to humiliate myself this way, but I am too old to waste any more time
on stumbling around blindly.

I just bought Monkey Island, after waiting for months and months for the Amiga
)version. NOw, I'm beginning to wish I'd spent my money elsewhere . :-)

I am stuck at the very beginning. I have talked to the three pirates and
found out about the three trials. I even talked to the dog. I know about
Gov Marley and LeChuck. I have been into town, visited the store, been into
the church, and have taken Otis some breath mints. I even took a look at the
Governor's piranha poodles. And that is as far as I can get.

I have not been able to buy/steal a sword or shovel. I can't open the safe
in the store. The church seems to be a big waste of time; I don't see
anything to do in there. At the prison, Otis mentions carrot cake, but I
can't find any other reference to one.

The fortune teller wasn't a lot of help, although I did manage to steal a
chicken. I have a set of PTA minutes, one gold coin left, the rubber chicken.
I do not have enough money to buy anything. The old man in the store is no
help. And I can not find any other unexplored places to go.

Won't some kind soul out there take pity on me and point me in the right
direction?

We've had the game for about three hours, and we've gotten pretty far on it:
Why don't you try going on the paths on the rocky cliff.

Anyone: How do you get past the pirrana poodles, and finds the sword master
?

Thanx

When you are in front of the scum bar, go to the left. When your at the cliffs
(with the old man), walk trough a 'gate'. It should be called something like
'path'. Visiting the circus might help to solve your cash-flow problem.

Good luck,

Jan
