I just received the following notice regarding the Sierra Railroad:

JAMESTOWN COMMUNITY SERVICES DISTRICT STEERING COMMITTEE

TO: SUPPORTERS OF THE SIERRA RAILROAD & RAILTOWN 1897.
We would like to invite you, a past supporter of the Sierra Railroad, to
come to a VERY SPECIAL OCCASION. RAILTOWN will be reopened for ONE DAY ONLY, to
celebrate the purchase of the facilities and equipment by the State of
California.
SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 4, 1982 the RAILTOWN facilities will be opened to the
public from 11:00 am on. There is NO ADMISSION CHARGE to the grounds. The
following activities will be taking place:
1). 11:00 am to 9:00 am TOURS OF THE ROUNDHOUSE & ENGINES will be given by
former Railtown employees. Currently engines #2 (shay), #3 Rogers 4-6-0, #28
Baldwin 2-8-0, and #34 Baldwin 2-8-2, are on display in the roundhouse along
with coach #2 and combine #5. There is plenty of room and light during the day
to take photos in the roundhouse. Prices for tours are $2.00 for adults and
$.75 for children.
2). 11:00 am (Saturday) to ? (Sunday) a soft drink, beer and wine booth
will be located for your convenience on the grounds.
3). 4:00 pm to ? a fill bar service will be available in the Silver Plate
Diner.
4). 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm a STEAK DINNER will be served ON THE GREEN AT
RAILTOWN. During dinner, entertainment will be provided by strollong
musicians. Dinner prices (which include: New York Steak, beans, tossed green
salad, sour dough french bread, dessert and a beverage) are $4.50 for children
under 12 and $9.00 for adults. DINNER TICKETS PURCHASED IN ADVANCE WILL
INCLUDE A FREE ROUNDHOUSE TOUR!
5). 9:00 pm to 1:00 am, a live band will provide music for DANCING UNDER
THE STARS ON THE STATION PLATFORM or in the DANCE CAR. There is NO GATE CHARGE
OR COVER CHARGE for those just wishing to come and dance.
all purchases for this event are tax deductable. The event is being put on
by non profit organizations from the Jamestown Community.
TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE IN JAMESTOWN AT: MINES SUPPLY, JIMTOWN FROSTY, THE
WHISTLE STOP, JAMESTOWN DRUG, OR AT THE GATE.
