[net.railroad] 250 mph train to O'Hare

prgclb (12/13/82)

A news item appeared in Sunday's Chicago Sun-Times
(author: Bob Olmstead) saying that Wisconsin congressman
Henry Reuss is pushing for construction of a 250 mph
magnetic levitation train between Milwaukee and
Chicago's O'Hare airport in time for Chicago's 1992 world's fair.

The train would reportedly make the 79 mile trip in 32 minutes,
including stops in Gurnee, Sturtevant, and Milwaukee's
General Mitchell Field.

Construction cost is estimated at 1.2 billion (1982 $).
