tempus@MAPLE.CIRCA.UFL.EDU (Marcus Brodeur - Tempus Fugit) (06/13/91)

Greetings. I'm having trouble with the Cubus file available at the abcfd20.
larc.nasa.gov: I believe it's incomplete. Has anyone gotten this file to work?
I get the title screen, but then an error slams me. It looks cool otherwise.

Didn't have a problem at all. Unpacked it, clicked on the icon and away it
went :-)

I have a pal Amiga 1000, 1.5meg, nothing fancy.
Tried it on a 3000, from memory, didn't want to run correctly, or looked
strange on screen.

Anyway, in answer to your query, works fine on a 1000, so the archive is
sound.

Growl. That might be the problem then. I'm have an Amiga 3000 and all I get
is the title screen. Something about CRC check failing in the Instruments
area when I LHunARCed it. :) This happens a lot. Find I can't run PD things
that will work fine on older Amigas. Well, thanks for at least confirming the
archive is sound. Sigh. Bye. :)

Hi Folks !

I don't understand your problems making Cubus run. Originally we developed
it on an A1000 /2.5MByte and tested it several months. (Tuning the
difficulty was the biggest problem :-)) Then, in march 91 I upgraded to an
A3000 and some minor changes were necessary to make it run under 2.0
But now, there shouldn't be any problems on a A3000 (my configuration:
A3000 PAL, 2+4MByte ram, KS Version 36.143, no fancy extras, too :-))

Was your problem unpacking Cubus on an A3000 or running the successfully
unpacked program?

When Cubus starts, it reads all data files and EXPECTS them to be correct.
If some file is scrambled, Cubus should exit immediately. I assume, you
don't hear any background music, do you ?

I would further like to know what expansions you have on the A3000 and
what commands appear in your startup-sequence, if your problem is
running Cubus.

I packed it with Amiga lharc v1.30 and don't know, if there're differences
to UNIX lharc.

Finally, if there are enough requests, I consider releasing a NTSC version,
too. This requires adjusting all screen positions and modification of the
title and select screens, so this may take several weeks.

I downloaded cubus from ab20 & it works fine. Only problem is I CANNOT
do the 3d mental rotation stuff (i.e. I can't play for toffees !!)
Cubus is well worth having though, nice graphics etc.

Can someone point me to where I can find this game? I've looked all over
and could not locate it.

(on ab20, of course)

Well, yes, it's on abcfd20.larc.nasa.gov...then

CD "amiga/games/action". It's that last "action games" directory that really
threw me. Cubus an action game? :) Oh, well...that's where I found it. It's
got excellent graphics and weird music, but is practically impossible to play,
since once a piece falls in a frontal section of the playing field you can't see
what's behind it... GROWL. Have fun, though.

Step 1.	ftp ab20.larc.nasa.gov
     2.	anonymous
     3.	<username>
     4. bin
     5. get FILES.Z
     6. quit
     7. zcat FILES | grep Cubus

Try it, you might even find it.
