I believe the American Flyer 'S' gauge was also 3/16 scale. I received one such train set for Christmas in 1949, but may be wrong on the numbers or scale, since I haven't had it out for a little over a year. Just yesterday (Sunday, Jan. 9) I saw a locomotive-tender combination like mine for $100 at an antique sale. In 1949, the complete set cost under $50.

Speaking of O and OO gauges, I seem to recall that way back in the '60s ('64 if I remember right), I had come across a gauge called OOO. The track and equipment lokked deceptively like N gauge, so I had presumed that OOO was the British name for N. However, from the discussion of the difference between OO and HO, it appears to me that there may be some real differences between OOO and N. Anyone with any thoughts on this?
