[comp.sys.amiga.games] AWESOME Hintts? Please?

mmoore@ux.acs.umn.edu (Malcolm Diallo Moore) (06/26/91)

Welllllllll, now that I got Awesome to work with my Ami, I'm stuck.

I always get stuck en route to the planet Follas, when I happen upon that
"unidentified objects ahead" part.

I drop out of warp and there's a circle of bombs around which spell instant
death on touch, and there's rocks and real strong dudes floating around.

The bombs are in a perfect circle, and are grey colored.

Some questions:

1) Can I break thru em without dying??
2) Should I use spherical bombs, or would a flame thrower help?
3) Is there even anything important on Follas?

Any hintz/trix/spoilers? :-) would be appreciated.

Awesome is a really suave game...the music is slammin!!

ADthanxVANCE.

Does the word "MORTAR" ring a bell?

Yes. See above.

Have yet to find a use for either that mortars or something else are better for.

You've got to wonder why it's there.

Also, if you ever get to the space station, and get the wierd weapon, (or anyoneelse), tell me what the heck it's used for!

Actually, I suppose I should mention a few other things also.

First, there does seem to be a definite order in which to travel through the
system, and it seems each planet should only be visited once. By an amazing
coincidence, it appears that is the order of the planets in the system.

I have found little use for most of the weapons availible other than the mortar
(cannon, balls, can't remember name) and the sonic mining laser. Others are
also good (pulse laser, peripheral guns) but not worth it (of course, I've only
got about 1/3-1/2 way through the game)

Notice: Prices for weapons vary CONSIDERABLY! You may find stuff cheaper later
on, when you need it.

Other than that, the best combat strategy seems to be run backwards at full
speed and shoot them one by one (in space). For the space serpents, go to the
opposite corner that they exited the screen if you value your shields. If the
serpent fires, you have to go in the MIDDLE of the diamond of fire to survive!
And, of course, never kill the boss on the ground, run through him.
