I've noticed that at least two game publishers, Bitmap Brothers, and the makers of Turrican (I/II) (Innerprise?) don't have American distributers. The Bitmap Brothers used to have Cinemaware, but no longer. Turrican II is likewise being "imported" on a per-dealer basis, somehow. I think it's really cutting into the profits for the programmers of these great games. After all the net-praise I looked all over for SpeedballII, and have been unable to find it in any non-mail order dealers. So I broke down and ordered it from Creative Computers. I recieved a defective disk, which I returned the next day. (I was really drooling, after reading the docs, too) After no word from them for two weeks after that, I called back, to be informed that it was backordered. Two weeks after that, with still no word, I called to find out that their shipment from Europe was due on June 13th, but still hadn't arrived (this was the 27th). So a month after paying my credit card bill for the thing, I still don't have it. If anyone in Europe has any line of communication with either of these folks, let them know how hard it is for hungy Americans to buy their programs! (I'm sure pirates world 'round had Speedball2 less than a week after it was finished...sigh.) dylan dylan@cs.washington.edu
