[comp.sys.mac.announce] Welcome to comp.sys.mac.announce

chuq@Apple.COM (That's MR. Idiot to you) (05/30/90)

Welcome to the comp.sys.mac.announce newsgroups. This message is to
explain the purpose of and the procedures to post to comp.sys.mac.announce.

Comp.sys.mac.announce is a low-volume, high-content, low-noise
newsgroup. It is moderated, so you cannnot post directly. You must
email your postings to the moderator, who will evaluate them and if
they are appropriate, will post them for you. Your news software should
take care of the mailing for you if you run postnews or Pnews, but if
it doesn't, mail your submission to 'chuq@apple.com' directly.

Here are a few groundrules:

o It must be of general interest to the readers of the comp.sys.mac.hierarchy.
o I will not post messages in c.s.m.announce that are cross-posted to other
groups, nor will I post a message to c.s.m.announce that is independently
posted to other groups (i.e. if you post it to c.s.m.misc and then send me
  a copy, I won't post it).
o I will not post followups to posted messages. Conversations about messages
will be carried on in a non-moderated group.
o I will not edit messages. I reserve the right to request modification
before posting, but I will not do that modification myself unless the
poster explicitly approves. You have the right (obviously) to reject my
requested revisions and post to a non-moderated group. This implies things
like making sure you check your spelling before sending it off to me.
o I reserve the right to ignore all groundrules if a specific situation
warrants. This is the famous "act of God" clause. I don't expect to
ever need to use this clause, by the way. At least, I hope not.

As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to drop
me a line.
