THINK Reference makes the information in volumes I to V of Inside Macintosh readily available to programmers. This saves programmers time and effort locating the information they need to program efficiently. "Macintosh programmers need technical information fast, and they spend a lot of time searching through reference manuals," said Gordon E. Eubanks, Jr., president and CEO. "THINK Reference saves significant time by putting the information they need right at their fingertips." An Essential Tool for Macintosh Programmers: THINK Reference, which gives programmers instant access to the critical system information necessary for programming the Macintosh, works with Symantec's THINK C and THINK Pascal and other development environments including Apple's Macintosh Programmer's Workshop (MPW). THINK Reference includes descriptions of the Toolbox routines from Inside Macintosh volumes I through V, as well as information from technotes, programming tips and code examples. There are also sections on fonts, resource types and other Macintosh topics and informative graphics which help to illustrate key concepts. Powerful Features for Speed and Ease-of-use: Novice programmers are often overwhelmed by the vast amounts of information that faces them as they learn Macintosh programming. The hypertext cross-referencing capabilities in THINK Reference make it easy for beginners to zero in on the information they need by locating related entries. THINK Reference also tracks recently viewed entries to allow exploration of the entire database while keeping a path back to the original entry. For professional programmers, speed is critical. THINK Reference lets programmers move quickly through volumes of material in a variety of ways. With multiple tables of contents, programmers can search by trap names, managers, keywords, data interfaces and structures. The entire database can be searched by keyword or full text and the Speed Search facility lets programmers get to a topic by typing just the first few characters. Customizable bookmarks allow programmers to find frequently-referenced topics with a single keystroke. THINK Reference also contains special templates for copying Toolbox calls right into programs with a single command, to avoid misspellings or entering parameters in the wrong order. Pricing and Availability THINK Reference is available through Symantec's network of distributors and resellers. The suggested retail price is $99.00. It requires a Macintosh Plus or higher with a minimum of 1 Mb of RAM (2 Mb recommended), running System Software Version 6.0 or later. THINK Reference requires 3.5 Mb of hard disk space.
