Can anyone give me pointers to getting TIFF files in and out of PBMPLUS? I have recently built TIFF Software "Release" 2.2, xtiff (PATCHLEVEL 3) and PBMPLUS (Distribution of 22nov89) on our Sequent Symmetry running DYNIX(R) V3.0.15. These all work very well and I can input images from a HP "scanjet" running HP "Scangal" software. However I can't get the TIFF files into PBMPLUS directly via tifftopgm since it blows up on all my images. So I have to use tif2ras and ras2tif, which are SunOS *specific*, to convert TIFF files to Sun rasterfiles that PBMPLUS can deal with. Is there any alternative to this since I want to have all the software running on the Sequent Symmetry and promote the use of the TIFF standard for storing images, xtiff for display under X Windows and PBMPLUS for image manipulation. cheers, gerry -- gerry pratt -- workstation support -- university of keele email: gerry@seq1.keele.ac.uk * tel: 0782 621111 x 3290 "these opinions are mine, mine, mine....ALL MINE I TELL YOU!"

I believe you may not have matching tiff and tiftoppm utilities. I do this with both 16 level gray scale and 8/24 bit color TIFF, and it seems to work nicely. The machines are miles away, but none of the stuff is on a Sun, so it's not Sun specific "fer sure." -- bill davidsen - davidsen@sixhub.uucp (uunet!crdgw1!sixhub!davidsen) sysop *IX BBS and Public Access UNIX moderator of comp.binaries.ibm.pc and 80386 mailing list "Stupidity, like virtue, is its own reward" -me
