Last week I attempted to reply to an article in this newsgroup from Larry West. Apparently I did not reach him (I'm new at USENET) or something, so I'm trying again. With reference to the MR article on the Great Southern RR, I obtained a copy of the detailed information on Joiner's hardware and software. The opinion of a hardware type here at work was that this was good quality hardware. I also checked into the price asked for the components (cab interface, etc) by Zucor - it was prohibitive to say the least. It would have cost me around $15,000 to equip my layout as Joiner's is equipt. It was also the opinion of my hardware friend that Zucor is asking 10 TIMES for these boards what it cost to build them yourself. I'm interested in discussing this topic further with any model RRers or hardware 'special interface' persons who read this group. BTW, is this group (railroads) also for us Model Railroaders?
