[alt.graphics.pixutils] GIF files w/GRASP

bkahn@spud.webo.dg.com (Bruce Kahn) (05/18/91)

Ive been playing with the idea of creating a series of GIFs and then playing
them back in sequence in a GRASP animation file (I dont know how to create
a .FLI file so thats why I picked GRASP). I have the 'toolkit' that was
posted a while back but there is nothing in the doc that says anything about
importing images; it simply refers to .CLP and .PIC files (neither of which
I know how to generate).

Can someone pls tell me how I can get GIF files into GRASP so I can 'fly' them?

Well, the only way I know of to convert GIF to PIC is by any number of graphics
conversion programs. I know of several (ICONVERT, TGLPLUS Shareware version)
but the only problem I have with that is the graphics sometimes lose some of
the neatness about them in conversion. In other words, a GIF that looks great
may look poor after being converted to PIC or vice versa.

Bruce,

I have a utility (shareware) here that runs in DOS, which uses either .FLI or
.GIF files as part of a slide show. Is that what you are talking about? If so,
contact me and I will either send or e-mail you the entire program, including
some sample files with the authors' names.

For an example of how to use GIF images in GRASP see the veggie girl animation
posted on alt.sex.pictures once upon a time. Just don't view it if you're
under 18 or squeamish.
