[comp.robotics] Monadnock Mountain

ewk@plnapc.Philips.Com (Ernie Kent) (06/27/90)

Are any of you old-timers from the Monadnock Mountain Robotics Conference
out there and reading this net? If so, where are you all now?

Remember 1978, when Carl Helmers was still editing BYTE and sponsoring the
conference, Andy Filo was doing home-made ICs in his oven, Jim Albus had
just taken over the robotics circus at NBS, Todd Loofborough and his dad
had just finished their homemade robot, I was still writing Brains of Men
and Machines, Dick Moberg was doing the strange things Dicj Moberg does,
and we all met for a week to plan the future of robotic lunacy?

As I recall, we wagered two ounces of gold on when the first workable
robot butler would be available (I went long, guys, I'm winning!)

Where are you all now? I can't even remember all the good people that
were there. Send Email, and I'll compile a list and send it back.
