I was just told be someone at Wind River that Gespac supports VxWorks.. We had been looking/drooling at Mizar's systems, but since we have nasty power constraints, and the solder-jockeys tell me VME is a power pig, Gespac may be our way out. I had thought that they only ran OS-9*, which I refuse to use. Militant Unix. :-) Anyone got the poop? PLEASE! No vendor calls! I've already been innundated by RT-OS and hardware people calling me saying "you know, our system has some neat features too." We have been running pSOS on Ironics boards, and realized that 90% of our effort has been in adding some sort of base unix-code-looking compatibility to a crippled kernel. All small kernels are essentially useless to us, because we basically have 3 programmers, and we want to write applications, not drivers. I've been writing drivers for the entire time I've worked here! So, unless you are a hardware vendor who sells cheap boards that can run efficiently and fit in a 17" diameter tube, support VxWorks, provide drivers for your oh-so-diverse boardset, and have incredibly wonderful support, don't call! Sorry for the outburst, but I'm a programmer, and dealing with salesdroids makes me itch. -Roger -- UUCP: ..!uunet!unhd!rg | USPS: Marine Systems Engineering Laboratory BITNET: r_gonzalez at unhh | University of New Hampshire PHONE: (603) 862-4600 | Marine Programs Building FAX: (603) 862-4399 | Durham, NH 03824-3525
