I just was scanning the latest issue of NASA Tech briefs, and was looking at the photo of the Ambler. As I sat and boggled at the size, I thought back to a month ago, when I was wrestling with our EAVE-III autonomous submersible, which was spiraling up and down, and bending my boat hook in two as it beat itself against the motorboat. It had crashed just the right processes to fool the others into thinking that everything was still peachy. Now, our small 800 pound fish is but a gnat compared to Ambler. Do you guys have an abort button? We got cocky and didn't install one.... Of course, when we yanked the power from the computer tube, we lost all the information about what happened, since my boss doesn't think that we need the money to buy more B for the BRAM. But that's another issue. -Roger -- "The question of whether a computer can think is no more interesting than the question of whether a submarine can swim" - Edsgar W.
