[comp.robotics] Reminder: Deadline for COLT'91

mli@watmath.waterloo.edu (Ming Li) (02/03/91)

This is a Reminder: Deadline for submitting to COLT'91.

The 4th Workshop on Computational Learning Theory will be held at
Santa Cruz, CA, August 5-7, 1991. The deadline for
submitting the paper is Feb. 15, 1991, FIRM.

In previous years COLT has focused primarily on developments in the
analysis of learning algorithms within certain
computational learning models. This year COLT would like to widen
the scope of the workshop by encouraging papers in all areas that
relate directly to the theory of machine learning, including
artificial and biological neural networks, robotics, pattern
recognition, information theory, decision theory, Bayesian/MDL
estimation, and cryptography. We look forward to a lively,
interdisciplinary meeting.

There will be two special invited talks.
(1) ``Gambling, Inference and Data Compression" Prof. Tom Cover, Stanford
(2) ``The Role of Learning in Autonomous Robots" Prof. Rodney Brooks, MIT

Authors should submit 11 copies of extended abstract
(with a cover page with title, authors' names, addresses
(with e-mail), a 200 word summary, body not longer than 10 pages)
to L.G. Valiant, COLT '91, Aiken Computing Laboratory,
Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass. 02138.

Program committee includes: Leslie Valiant (Harvard, chair),
Dana Angluin (Yale), Andrew Barron (U. Illinois),
Eric Baum (NEC), Tom Dietterich (Oregon State U.),
Mark Fulk (U. Rochester), Alon Itai (Technion),
Michael Kearns (Int. Comp. Sci. Inst.),
Ron Rivest (MIT), Naftali Tishby (Bell Labs), Manfred Warmuth (UCSC).
