[comp.robotics] Efficient DC Servo motors

morris@probitas.cs.utas.edu.au (John Morris) (03/06/91)

We're looking for suppliers of small, efficient DC motors.
A mass of 50g would be ideal and we want the maximum torque/mass
ratio!
Motors with rare-earth magnets are reported to be superior, but we
know of only one supplier of RE magnet motors.

So far we have information about two Swiss companies:

Minimotor SA, Agno, Switzerland
(Their Type 2444 has RE magnets)

and

Maxon, ??? (haven't rec'd a catalogue from their Australian agent yet!)

There must be many others. If you know of any suppliers, pls let us
know their names (If you know a fax number, that's great for us on this
side of the world, otherwise mail eventually gets there. Phone numbers
only lead to sleepless nights over here!! However I'll make a summary,
so they may be useful for others.)

Thanks,

Atilla, built by Rod Brooks' lab at MIT, uses Minimotor SA motors.
