Apparently there's someone trying to build robots based on vertebrae instead of connected joints. That is, robots built with many small, simple actuators which can generate a small amount of force across a short travel. These actuators are placed in a line and the result is a somewhat fault-tolerant robot capable of very flexible paths. Are there any references to this in the literature? Thanks, Lance Norskog
