This is posted at the request of Chris Gibson from the University of Liverpool. If this is of interest to you please respond to Chris. His address is given at the bottom of the article. Ross. ------------------------------------------------------------------- My intention is that this message should reach as many people as possible who are actively involved in developing the interface between theoretical robotics and geometry. Initially I have sent it to a very small number of people for whom I happen to have an e-mail address. Perhaps you could help by forwarding it to anyone you know with like interests? My main objective is to increase communication within this group, for our mutual benefit. My view is that the subject is entering a period of rapid development, during which information exchange will play a key role. In principle, I am prepared to act as a focus for this activity. A specific objective is to consider the possibility of a (small) international conference on the Geometry of Robotics in the University of Liverpool. A first step would be to let me know whether in principle you would be interested in such a meeting. A second step would be to make available a list of your publications, in this specific area, to interested parties. I think e-mail is the efficient way to do this, so a text version would be appropriate, ideally a TEX file. I am happy to construct a file of interested parties (with e-mail addresses) and make it available via e-mail. Naturally, I would be grateful for your reactions to my proposals.
