In January, I am going to be working for an Air Force organization that
does research in Robotic Telepresence. Such research requires a robot that
can track the motions of a human 'master' and be run under a force or
impedance control scheme. The organization presently owns an old Merlin
robot which has stepper motors for its joint actuators. Although they are
high quality 'enhanced micro-stepping' motors, I don't think there is any
good way of using stepper motors to do force or impedance control.
Is there anybody out there that has any information to the contrary?? If
not, is there anybody out there who has a used PUMA 562 in reasonable
condition that they are willing to negotiate on??
