I am using Microphone v. 1.5 (not Microphone II) on a Mac SE, connected via hardwire to a MICOM switching box, which is connected to a variety of mainframes. It seems to write to the screen at about 2400 baud (I base this on running it through a 2400 baud modem, where screen writing appears to about the same speed. I have Micropohone set to 9600 baud, and all the other settings are correct, as specified by the network group here on campus. I have been through all the menus, and cannot find anything that seems amiss, so I think the program may be working correctly, but that the screen write rate is as fast as it gets. I run Kermit 0.9, and it writes to screen quite fast (about 4x as fast, it seems). If anyone knows if this is "normal" or not, I'd like to know. Also, scripts that wait for characters before executing certain commands cause the screen write to be *very* sluggish, even more so than the same scripts when connected via a 2400 baud modem. I'm curious if upgrading to Microphone II would alleviate these symptoms. - Robert Majors majors@u.washington.edu
