Hello, I plan on buying a 2400 baud modem and could use some advice. I have seen these modems advertised anywhere from $85 - $400. I am interested in the $85 "MagicModem 2400" available from Macproducts USA. The ad says it is 100% Hayes compatible. I would like to hear from anyone who has any experience with these modems. My specific questions are: Will this modem last longer than 6 months? Is there anything wrong with this modem? Should I buy it? David dwl@ocf.Berkeley.EDU P.S. Thanks to everyone who wrote me about using Maclayers and Apollo workstations. Apparently the problem is more involved than just getting the unix code to compile without any errors.
