We have a local network of 18 MACs of various types. There are 3 laser printers on the network and most of the users are scientists and engineers. There will be few computer experts on the net. Currently all the network is used for is sharing the printers. I will be setting up email and file sharing over the network so I need basic information about apple talk. How many nodes are considered a max in apple talk. We will start with 18 and very few users will think they will use it. In a very short time I expect that most will see how valuable the network is and use will jump. What have you users out there used to set up a inexpensive apple talk network and how has it worked out? There are 3 other apple networks in the company ans politicaly they want to remain seperate. The one I am working on will be used to convince others to network. I hope to connect all MACS and PCs in the company to the SUNs and VAXs but this is way down the road. Please email your responses to keep the net load down on a subject that I know has been talked to death. What I need is an overview of the appletalk and its applications. Donald E.
